1st place: StudiCafe by Coffee Beans (Albany High School, Albany, California)
StudiCafé will provide high school students with a tool that is a fun and effective way to study for an AP science class or test. StudiCafé includes a virtual world aspect that will help incorporate a social feature into the app. We know that we cannot program the virtual world due to our limited coding knowledge, although we know it is possible. The world of StudiCafé includes different AP Cafés that you can visit. After entering a café there will be 6 choices; visit other cafés, view statistics, take practice test, practice multiple choice, practice with flashcards, and take FRQ.
2nd place: SATisfy App by Uni Tech Team (University High School, Los Angeles, CA)
SATisfy is a product designed for test prep with a social spin. With online distractions left and right, students feel more and more pressure to do well on standardized tests. Our app poses a modern solution to this modern problem. Instead of feeling guilt over using mobile devices when they should be studying, students can feel gratified by doing their studying on their mobile device. Furthermore, users are incentivized to do so thanks to the social nature of the app. A “you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours” notion pervades; students are encouraged to help each other to succeed.
3rd place: Intoxication Station App by Team Forte (Mountain View High School, Mountain View, CA)
Our app contains simple and clear information on how to treat alcohol poisoning and other alcohol-related emergencies, such entering contacts to find a ride home or treating a hangover. This app has uses available medical information in a much more accessible format- mobile technology, which almost every teen has.
